Begin with your operator’s list
The right kit depends on the activity. Hiking and canyoning share a setting but do not have identical requirements. Use this checklist to prepare your questions, then follow the final list for your departure.
Closed footwear with grip is a useful starting point. For canyoning, confirm the required type of shoe and whether it will be submerged. Do not assume beach shoes or sandals are accepted.
Keep the load useful
Carry the drinking water and food agreed with your guide, weather protection and only the valuables you need. Protect a phone and essential documents from water. Ask how bags are managed on the route and whether the operator supplies a shared canyon bag.
Dry clothes and a towel are helpful afterwards. Find out where they can stay during the activity. A bag that survives a shower may not protect electronics during immersion.
Check specialist equipment
For canyoning, confirm the helmet, harness, wetsuit and any flotation equipment supplied, including suitable sizes. Equipment fit matters for children as well as adults. Ask about bringing your own kit before assuming it is accepted.
Keep the checklist on this device while packing. Its ticks are a preparation aid, not a check that an operator has approved your equipment or participation.
